Norris Lake from the camp shoreline on a summer day

LaFollette, Tennessee · Since 1958

A light in the mountains, on the shores of Norris Lake.

For more than 65 years, Galilee Bible Camp has helped kids know God and make Him known through summer camp, discipleship and a whole lot of lake days.

An update from our board & InFaith

Resting now, so we can welcome campers back stronger in 2027.

After twelve faithful years, Mark and Mellissa Lay stepped down as Executive Directors. We thank God for every child who met Him here under their care.

The Galilee Bible Camp Board of Directors and InFaith – The American Missionary Fellowship are now leading a renewal built on three priorities:

  • Renewing our facilities: fixing known issues and upgrading the campus so it’s safe, modern and inspiring.
  • Putting children and youth first: focusing our ministry and programs on kids and teens.
  • Strengthening leadership: calling key staff who share Galilee’s mission.

To give this work our full attention, all camp programs and rentals are paused until Summer 2027. Please keep Galilee in your prayers.

Our Story

It began with “The Bible Lady.”

In 1958, InFaith missionary Betty Glover, a nurse, moved to the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee to serve families living in poverty. Over 40 years she taught Bible lessons in one-room schoolhouses, handed out donated clothing and groceries, and helped pioneer Galilee Bible Camp.

She went where few single women missionaries were sent in those days. Now past 100, she is still known in these mountains as “The Bible Lady.”

Our mission

To know God and to make Him known, in our community and beyond, by investing in the lives of our youth through discipleship. In Ms. Betty’s words, “local is part of this world.”

Galilee is not tied to any one denomination. We are followers of Christ who believe the whole Bible, without adding to it or taking away. Read our Statement of Faith.

“We are getting close. I can feel the peace!”

What families say

That’s what one little girl called out from the camp bus as it turned onto our long gravel drive. We pray every camper leaves with that same sense of God’s love.

“Best camp of my life!” That’s what my 10-year-old said after her week. The staff went above and beyond to make camp fun and safe. Campers come home with Scripture in their hearts.
Jamie M., parent
Camp Galilee has a special place in my heart. I’ve met so many amazing people here, including my best friend!
Emily F., camper
I have heard God’s voice through the laughter of children, late-night cabin conversations, silly songs and sacred hymns, and splashes in the lake.
Stephanie L., cabin leader
